About Green Swan

The designs of Green Swan products are inspired by the ingenuity of folk from around the world and times gone by; people who have long been upcycling and transforming 'waste' into something beautiful and useful.

All products are made with upcycled / re-purposed / recycled materials and aesthetic sustainability is an important aspect of the design process - my goal being a timeless and stylish outcome that brings a festive quality to everyday life.

I am passionate about upcycling and would love to see a paradigm shift in our attitude to waste. The term upcycling was coined by William McDonough and Michael Braungart, authors of Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things. Upcycling is the practice of taking something that is disposable and transforming it into something of greater use and value.

I enjoy the challenge of transforming what is perceived as banal, unfashionable and unwanted into something stylish and life-enhancing.  I value the unique quality of handmade and low-tech creations and the maxim of 'think global, act local'.  As a dedicated eco-conscious recycler of many years I waste very little, keep my carbon footprint low and support several charities by sourcing material from local charity shops.

Green Swan is based near Lands End, Penwith in Far West Cornwall UK and is powered by the sun!.
